Artist's Statement
As a visual, spiritually interpretive artist I engage in a creative process that includes meditation and mindfulness practices as well as the rigorous observation of the natural world. These culminate in an intuitive response that I document with two-dimensional and sculptural mixed media work. My work calls for an array of materials, including the traditional ones, but I delight in incorporating a variety of natural media such as spices, dirt, tea, water, sticks, and stones. My aim is to express the essence of my physical and spiritual experiences with visual honesty and intimacy. The results, like life, are unpredictable, challenging, beautiful, messy, blissful, mysterious, disturbing, and sacred.
